I'd add that you also don't have to follow the crowd and rush to every shiny new social platform out there.
I limited my social media presence to X and Substack and I'm enjoying it much more than when I was also on FB and Insta. And I'm considering leaving LinkedIn for good, too.
Because you don't see any corporate posturing or HR circle jerk on X. The interactions are far more spontaneous, and connections feel authentic. I've made friends within a few months of posting on X. On LinkedIn I only get followers who want to sell me stuff, or even worse, working for them for free.
