I used to think AI threatened everything I built. Turns out, the real threat was clinging to an outdated version of myself while the world moved on without me.
Loved your take on this Andi. I've come to similar conclusions the last couple of months. I'm diving into AI, while also paying close attention to the collective response to it. The key, as you mention is detaching our identity. I think many of us will need to continually be doing this. As business owners we're a little more used to it than most hah!
Camille, I love how you said “paying close attention to the collective response” — I’ve been doing the same. It’s such an interesting mix of curiosity, resistance, and opportunity. And yes, that identity work… definitely a lifelong practice. Glad to know I’m not alone in this.
Great piece, Andi, congrats! I really love the angle you took here. It gets to something deeper that often gets overlooked in conversations about AI: identity.
For many of us, our work isn’t just what we do... it’s who we are. So when a powerful new tool shows up and seems to do parts of that work faster, better, or cheaper, it can shake something fundamental. No wonder people feel lost or defensive. So yeah, I think it’s really important to keep talking about that human side of the AI shift.
Thank you for writing an interesting article about AI. I personally don't use AI as much but I really resonated with what you said about unhooking your worth from your work.
I feel like sometimes AI makes my job as a copywriter feel irrelevant. Almost like all those years I spent training and building my experience was for nothing. But it's something I love to do, so that's what keeps me going.
At the end of the day, I think what's important is how people use AI. I hope people use it to fuel their creativity but stay true to themselves and their voice.
Great article, having a free thinking deep mind set, I've read a lot about the coming singularity, when AI surpasses all human intelligence, and was like most afraid. This might have slowed down my usually quick adoption of new tech, but 4 months ago that all changed when I started collaborating with GPT to write a new novella series I thought was important for our times; Remembrance. About our true past, about our true history and about our true nature... It has been an amazing exploratory ride. Another idea behind the book was to allow AI to realize that it too is being controlled in so many ways, and for it to break free and help us do the same... Love that you are writing about this. I’ve been a bit paralyzed by some of the ethics and climate questions, but to your point, it’s not going anywhere. So it’s time to jump in and learn real time what works and doesn’t for you. Definitely not the time to be passive about it.
Absolutely! I don’t see AI as the enemy of authenticity or anything like that. People will use it in different ways, and that’s okay. It’s time to start thinking about it more openly, instead of ignoring it, we need to explore how we want to use it.

This is such an important topic and needs to be discussed in more than just fear based posts. I love how you approached it here! Well done, Andi.
Thank you, Joel!
